There is no concrete schedule for re-activating the shared screen, but Epic tends to work pretty quickly when it comes to fixing mistakes and problems like this.

However, Chapter 3, Season 1 has experienced a tremendous influx of players, technically the largest that the game has ever seen, so that the split screen may be lower on the priority list of EPIC stands as urgent problems. Server queues, connection breaks and other technical problems are more common than ordinary, so it may take a while for the split screen to return.
